About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Verify chemotherapy regimens for ordering accuracy, indication, dosing, sequencing, diluents, stability, and administration parameters
  • Assess and manage treatment toxicities, implement dose adjustments, and recommend monitoring
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations for oncology therapies and clinical trial regimens
  • Perform comprehensive medication management, medication reconciliation, interaction evaluation, and deprescribing when appropriate
  • Oversee or perform aseptic compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile preparations
  • Ensure proper donning, engineering controls, closed-system transfer devices, beyond-use dating, chain-of-custody, labeling, and barcode verification
  • Lead or support medication-use evaluations, incident reviews, corrective actions, protocols, order sets, and pathways
  • Ensure regulatory readiness and maintain documentation and audits
  • Track and report clinical interventions, outcomes, cost avoidance, and safety metrics
  • Practice under collaborative practice agreements to initiate or adjust therapies, order labs, and manage supportive care
  • Coordinate care transitions across infusion, inpatient, specialty pharmacy, home infusion, and community providers
  • Support clinical trials and manage investigational products
  • Evaluate new drugs and indications for formulary review and implementation
  • Precept and mentor oncology pharmacy technicians
  • Provide medication and safety education to nursing, providers, and ancillary staff
  • Contribute to departmental policies, strategic initiatives, and interprofessional workgroups
  • Build, validate, and maintain EHR chemotherapy plans, order sets, and clinical decision support
  • Utilize BCMA and smart pump libraries and escalate issues
  • Communicate with prescribers, nurses, and infusion teams to resolve order issues
  • Report adverse drug events, near misses, and pharmacovigilance data
  • Prioritize STAT and time-sensitive chemotherapy and supportive care orders
  • Manage hazardous drug inventory, storage, and waste; coordinate shortage mitigation
  • Assist with billing accuracy, NDC mapping, waste documentation, and HCPCS coding support
  • Perform order verification and IV room pharmacist duties at Central Pharmacy, plus other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or Pharm D from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Current valid Florida Pharmacist license
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy regimen verification, antineoplastic agents, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, cellular therapies, and clinical trial regimens
  • Knowledge of sterile compounding and safe handling of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile preparations per USP requirements
  • Knowledge of medication safety, quality, compliance, and oncology pharmacy protocols
  • Ability to practice under collaborative practice agreements (CPAs)
  • Ability to use EHR chemotherapy plans, order sets, clinical decision support, BCMA, and smart pump libraries
  • Ability to manage investigational products and clinical trial protocol compliance
  • Ability to perform comprehensive medication management and evaluate drug–drug and drug–gene interactions
