About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead by example across safety, people, quality, production, and cost
  • Ensure personnel safety, well-being, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Create a positive workplace environment and ensure equitable treatment of employees
  • Communicate with direct reports and provide development and coaching through one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and daily feedback
  • Ensure adequate staff coverage for all shifts, including vacations and unplanned absences
  • Manage and coordinate training, professional development, and team building
  • Maintain and improve product quality
  • Monitor daily metrics to ensure production goals are met
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts and implement improved, sustainable processes
  • Manage manufacturing costs, including consumables, scrap, and direct labor/overtime
  • Report down machines and support routine maintenance
  • Communicate and present information to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated analytical/problem solving experience using data to drive solutions
  • Demonstrated situational leadership
  • Ability to deal with various employees, personalities, backgrounds, and skill levels
  • Willingness to accept change and ability to affect policy and technical changes with subordinates and peer groups
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Self-motivated, self-starter
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional management to drive cost and productivity/efficiency improvements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from a regionally accredited, not-for-profit university required
  • Three years of progressive experience in a supervisory or lead capacity role in a manufacturing environment preferred
