About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with teachers to deliver approved substance use prevention curricula in schools and other agencies
- Facilitate groups, individual classrooms, assemblies, observations, monitoring, and direct program implementation
- Prepare and deliver program materials
- Participate in community coalition meetings and task force committees
- Recruit and secure school and community implementation locations
- Secure training sites for approved programs
- Market and promote programs to schools in the community
- Provide alcohol and other drug education to parents, faculty, and agency staff
- Provide substance abuse information and other community resources to schools and partners
- Complete monitoring reports as required by grants, including DCF requirements
- Complete daily documentation and Salesforce/CPG data entries within required time frames
- Assist the Prevention Coordinator and Regional Prevention Coordinator with special projects
- Maintain knowledge of prevention disciplines, trends, and best practices
- Document success through satisfaction surveys, training evaluations, and observations
- Travel frequently to schools, staff meetings, and community events in assigned and neighboring counties
- Attend occasional meetings, continuing education events, and conferences within Florida
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience
- A minimum of 1 year working with adolescents, preferably in a school or public health setting
- Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) preferred or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS)
- Ability to effectively communicate information to adolescents on substance use risks and consequences, healthy decision-making, coping skills, and peer pressure resistance
- Strong presentation and group facilitation skills
- Superb verbal and written communication skills, including interactive public speaking and active listening skills
- Effective advocacy and community promotion skills
- Knowledge of adolescent development
- Strong computer/technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to navigate and utilize various software tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent judgment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to undergo a background check
- Valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and willingness and ability to drive for work purposes
- Ability to travel and deliver lengthy and multi-session public presentations
- Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
- If in recovery, one year of continuous sobriety is required
