About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee all engineering activities related to land preparation for data center construction
- Ensure land suitability and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Coordinate installation and integration of solar energy, water supply, and fiber optics utilities
- Ensure utilities are delivered on time and within budget
- Manage multiple projects, including project plans, timelines, budgets, and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain quality and safety standards
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams and departments
- Negotiate and secure long-term water sourcing and supply agreements
- Assess water rights, capacity availability, and infrastructure requirements
- Conduct due diligence on prospective land acquisitions and development sites
- Evaluate zoning, environmental constraints, geotechnical conditions, utility access, and permitting requirements
- Provide reports and recommendations supporting project decisions
- Travel up to 50% of the time
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field)
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position
- Proven experience in land development and utility coordination for large-scale projects
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems, particularly solar energy
- Experience with data center infrastructure and utility requirements
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) preferred
