About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Courteously serve resident and guest meals
  • Clean up and reset the dining room following meal service
  • Assist residents when placing orders from the menu
  • Provide beverage service, including water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee/tea
  • Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after each meal
  • Report broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor
  • Apply proper sit-down service and serving techniques
  • Assist with basic food preparation, including salads and desserts
  • Follow proper food storage and labeling techniques
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings
  • Complete other assigned duties
  • Attend to residents' special needs, including mobility deficits and memory impairment
  • Assist with tray service
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information
  • Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
  • Must be able to read and follow simple instructions
  • Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
  • Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects
  • Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
  • Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
