About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as contracts lead for backlist audio initiative
- Prepare, draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts and amendments for audio, trade, and children’s imprints
- Review requests submitted by editors
- Interface with Editorial, Royalty, Publishing Operations, and Finance Departments
- Interpret contract details to answer queries from internal stakeholders and third parties
- Advise on author estate matters as required
- Perform other tasks as needed and assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of prior independent contracts drafting and negotiating experience in the Contracts Department of a book publisher or other relevant experience required
- Prior background in audiobook publishing is strongly preferred
- Strong verbal, communication, drafting and negotiating skills
- Excellent attention to detail with exceptional organizational ability
- Able to work independently, set priorities under pressure, and plan workload efficiently to meet deadlines
- Collaborative and team oriented
- Innovative and adaptable mindset, with curiosity about new tools and processes
- Cover letters are strongly preferred
