About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist all Thomas Nelson fiction editorial and marketing activities
- Attend titling, staff, title alignment, production, editorial, marketing, and sales conference meetings
- Manage the proposal log, including tracking and distributing proposals from agents and authors
- Assist with filing for CIP data and copyrights
- Shadow and assist with page proofs, final pass proofs, manuscript styling, and basic application
- Gain experience drafting and reviewing catalog and back cover copy
- Optimize retailer copy for backlist and frontlist titles
- Help implement promotional campaigns
- Gather author input for PR pitches
- Manage Librarian and Reviewer requests through NetGalley
- Help create and distribute ARCs to reviewers, media, authors, and sales
- Research marketing trends
- Assist with mailings
- Perform clerical work including photocopying, printing, binding manuscripts, filing, email, and note taking
Requirements
What you’ll need- Available to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from June 7 to August 12, 2027
- Available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028
- Open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry-level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Resume and cover letter required; cover letter addressed to “Hiring Team”
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program preferred
- Previous internship within publishing preferred but not required
- English or journalism majors preferred
- Passionate interest in the publishing industry, with a specific passion for fiction preferred
- General understanding of the Christian market is a plus but not required
- Strong desire to learn and professional drive
- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Research skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with tact and diplomacy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong knowledge of English grammar and usage
- Team player
- Organized, efficient, detail-oriented, proactive, professional, and able to multitask
