About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide administrative and editorial support for two editors on nonfiction titles
  • Maintain communication with authors and agents
  • Draft jacket copy, flap copy, sales notes, and fact sheets under close supervision
  • Assist with acquisitions by reading and evaluating manuscripts and proposals
  • Draft rejection letters and prepare acquisition materials
  • Conduct sales research and create P&Ls, Acquisition Memos, and contract paperwork
  • Transmit manuscripts and coordinate the publication process with other departments
  • Support and coordinate the publication process from manuscript to book
  • Draft correspondence and memos
  • Complete internal forms and master intranet programs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Cover letters are strongly preferred
