About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide constant, real-time video monitoring of assigned patients
- Observe patients for at-risk behaviors
- Provide verbal redirection when appropriate
- Communicate directly with nursing staff when additional intervention or assistance is needed
- Document observations according to established standards
- Follow appropriate safety measures
- Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives
- Interact with patients, families, and staff

- Support patient safety at Ben Taub Hospital through attentive observation and timely communication
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical skills or training appropriate to the specialty area
- Texas Nursing Assistant Certification; OR Medical Assistant certification from AMT, AAMA, NCCT, NHA, or NAHP
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of related clinical experience required
- Related specialty experience preferred, including direct patient care, virtual patient observation, telemetry technician experience, hospital environment experience, or nursing program clinical rotations
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Written communication and report-writing skills
- Professional telephone etiquette
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to analyze patient safety information and determine appropriate action
- Ability to make quick decisions under pressure
- Ability to manage stress appropriately
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to continuously monitor multiple patients simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail and sustained focus
- Ability to remain seated and work at a computer screen for extended periods
- English/Spanish bilingual skills preferred
- Flexible schedule, with weekends and holidays as required
