About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own a project end-to-end, from coding and testing through production deployment and presenting the work
  • Write clean, maintainable code meeting team standards
  • Use AI-assisted development tools daily and own the quality of shipped work
  • Build knowledge of supported systems and their users and bring that perspective to product discussions
  • Debug problems, follow escalation procedures, and prioritize quality for high-stakes legal users
  • Collaborate through code reviews, pair programming, design reviews, and technical documentation
  • Potentially work on retrieval over large document collections, AI collaboration interfaces, multi-region compute infrastructure, enterprise agents, or secure systems for sensitive client data
  • Evaluate frontier models alongside senior engineers
  • Collaborate with Product, AI, Legal, and GTM teams to build secure, intuitive systems for Harvey's AI products

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Able to work from the New York or San Francisco offices during the summer cohort
  • Previous internship experience is required
  • Strong proficiency in one or more languages: Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Go, or similar
  • Solid general computer science knowledge
  • Experience building something from start to finish in coursework, a personal project, or a past internship
  • Comfortable explaining complex technical ideas in plain language
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor
  • Curious about building LLMs into a coding workflow
  • Expected to work with AI tools during AI-assisted coding interviews
