About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead engineers behind referral, payer, and phone channels
Own bets that open new patient acquisition channels
Grow channels bringing patients to Headway through doctors, insurers, and phone
Take new channels from zero to one by finding signals, shipping quickly, scaling successes, and stopping ineffective initiatives
Build AI into patient referral, routing, and booking workflows
Lead and grow an engineering team focused on outcomes
Make it easy for partners to work with Headway
Partner daily with two product managers, data science, and operations
Work directly with health systems and insurers
Report to the Head of Patient Engineering
Grow the organization as new channels come online

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years managing engineers, with a track record of hiring and developing them
5+ years building production software
Experience launching or growing an acquisition, distribution, or partner channel
Experience building something from nothing and working in ambiguous environments
Ability to navigate broken plans, partner delays, and undocumented problems
Ability to build trust with product, operations, and partners and resolve difficult tradeoffs
Desire and ability to manage, hire, coach, and set performance standards
Bonus: healthcare, payer, or health system integrations
Bonus: voice or conversational AI experience
Bonus: B2B2C product experience
Participation in system design, people leadership, product sense, peer leadership, and hands-on AI coding interviews
