About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clinical evaluation and patient care for inpatient wound and ostomy patients
  • Collaborate with attending providers to develop initial plans of care
  • Provide nursing support to the outpatient Wound Care Center when needed
  • Report to the Inpatient Nurse Manager with a dotted-line reporting structure to the Healogics Market Director
  • Adhere to medical/nursing standards, hospital policies, accrediting-organization requirements, and applicable regulations and CMS guidelines
  • Perform and document wound and ostomy assessments, including wound stage/grade and measurements
  • Communicate assessment findings and care-plan information to assigned physicians
  • Identify patient-care situations requiring intervention
  • Participate in quality-improvement initiatives
  • Educate patients and caregivers and serve as a patient advocate
  • Provide stoma-site marking services
  • Contribute to nursing orientation focused on skin assessment, documentation, and pressure-injury prevention
  • Serve as a resource for wound and ostomy product selection and use
  • Contribute to discharge-planning meetings
  • Monitor appropriate use of pressure-redistribution surfaces
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent required
  • Current RN license in the state of practice, maintained throughout employment
  • Current CPR certification for the Healthcare Provider (BLS)
  • Minimum one year of related experience in wound care and acute care
  • Wound and Ostomy Certification preferred or required by State (AAWM or WOCN certifying bodies preferred)
  • If not certified, willingness to obtain certification within twelve months of employment
  • Ability to demonstrate autonomy, organization, and flexibility in scheduling
  • Planning, organization, prioritization, and time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate in laymen’s terms
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and web-based data applications
