About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work closely with management and actuarial students in support of major departmental functions
- Model experience, gather and compile data from various sources, design and maintain databases, and produce internal and external reports
- Support projects such as modeling provider payments and discounts, redesigning forecasting models, converting reserve models into new software packages, and preparing yearly financial statements
- Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager
- Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations informing business decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Support departmental initiatives improving business outcomes and the member and client experience
- Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous internship experience preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
- Strong analytical skills
- Practical, developed technical skills, especially Excel, SQL and VBA
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree; rising senior with a major in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, computer science or economics; other majors may be considered
- Completion of or plans to complete 1 ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) exam by graduation
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Available for the full duration of the 10-week program
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, and a collaborative, learning-oriented mindset
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general comfort with virtual collaboration tools
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role
