About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Learn underwriting principles and procedures for evaluating risk for renewals and new business in employer-sponsored healthcare
- Assist with financial analysis of customer benefit designs
- Report and collaborate with sales and account management teams on pricing negotiations
- Assist with completion of financial settlements
- Participate in HCSC’s formal internship program and support business objectives and member-focused solutions
- Work with cross-functional business and technical teams
- Contribute to project work, analyze information, and support development of organizational solutions
- Learn and apply organizational processes, programs, and technologies
- Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from a mentor and manager
- Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations for business decisions
- Support departmental initiatives improving business outcomes and member and client experience
- Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree; rising senior with a major in a business-related field; other majors may be considered
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Available for the full duration of the 10-week program
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
- Strong analytical skills
- Practical, developed PC skills, especially Excel and Word
- Basic math competencies
- Work management skills, including ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time
