About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support regional marketing, communications, content creation, and outreach efforts promoting health and wellness in schools and communities
  • Collect and develop written, video, and visual content for digital communications, social media, newsletters, websites, donor communications, and regional outreach
  • Visit local school sites weekly to capture stories and content from Teens Make Health Happen Clubs
  • Attend regional events, community outreach opportunities, and partner engagements to document HealthCorps’ impact
  • Create and publish content for regional Instagram and TikTok channels
  • Monitor engagement, conduct social listening, identify trends and content opportunities, and maintain brand consistency
  • Support content creation for LinkedIn and YouTube with the national team
  • Draft emails, newsletters, announcements, presentations, event invitations, promotional messaging, and other communications materials
  • Create and update flyers, posters, presentations, event signage, one-pagers, and promotional materials
  • Support promotion and execution of regional events, including pre-event promotion, attendee engagement, and post-event storytelling
  • Track engagement analytics and assist with monthly performance reporting
  • Assist with awareness campaigns, recurring content series, storytelling initiatives, and other creative projects
  • Collaborate with college mentors, regional staff, HealthCorps MarComm interns, and the national marketing team
  • Participate in national intern huddles to align messaging, storytelling strategy, best practices, and campaigns
  • Represent HealthCorps as an ambassador at schools, events, and community engagements
  • Commit to 8 hours per week during the 2026–2027 academic year, including 1.5–2 hours weekly at local school sites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social media, business, public health, or a related field
  • Successful completion of introductory courses in marketing, business, or equivalent
  • Applied understanding of basic marketing principles
  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter
  • Ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic photography, image, and video editing skills
  • Graphic design skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Curiosity about trends, social platforms, and youth-centered storytelling
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to travel to assigned sites, potentially up to 40 miles within Pittsburgh
  • Background investigation and/or reference check clearance required for the mentorship offer
