About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the marketing lead for Hearst Austin Media’s portfolio of wellness, lifestyle, food, music, and community events, primarily the Cap10K
  • Tell the story of events year-round through social media, video, email, digital campaigns, and community activations
  • Interview participants, capture field content, showcase event experiences, and build audience connection before race day or event day
  • Develop marketing campaigns that drive registrations, ticket sales, attendance, merchandise purchases, and repeat participation
  • Understand audience motivations and cultivate lifelong fans
  • Work closely with the Race Director, event producers, creative team, and operations leaders
  • Attend planning meetings, community activations, training runs, sponsor events, merchandise launches, and race-weekend activities
  • Help launch merchandise products, create campaigns, build anticipation, and grow the merchandise program
  • Build relationships with running clubs, fitness groups, creators, community organizations, local businesses, and cultural influencers
  • Help increase event participation, merchandise usage, social engagement, and community recognition of the brands

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of marketing, audience development, events, experiential marketing, community engagement or related experience
  • Strong social media and content creation skills
  • Comfortable appearing on camera and interviewing participants
  • Experience building campaigns that drive registrations, attendance, purchases or subscriptions
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as events require
  • Passion for live experiences and community-building
  • You love Austin
  • You know what's happening around town before everyone else does
  • You naturally take photos and videos at events
  • You have opinions about race shirts, medals, event experiences and social content
  • You enjoy being around people
  • You can comfortably walk up to someone, hand them a microphone and get a great story
  • You think community is created one interaction at a time
  • You get excited about building something bigger every year
