About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Support the preparation of financial reports and maintain accurate accounting records
- Assist with account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance reporting
- Collaborate with internal business partners across Hearst Magazines' brands
- Help maintain compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and company procedures
- Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and required documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and contribute to operational efficiencies
Requirements
What you’ll need- 0+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, including internships, co-op experience, or equivalent experience
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP or financial systems is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute across teams
- Hybrid role based in Charlotte, NC, with an expectation of working in the office four days per week
