About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with the Director of Creative Video and Executive Producers to conceptualize, design, and animate motion graphics for YouTube series, social content, sizzle reels, presentations, and other creative projects
  • Design engaging thumbnails and supporting visual assets for recurring video content across multiple Hearst Magazines brands
  • Retouch photography and create polished visual assets while maintaining each brand's creative standards and identity
  • Extend backgrounds, sets, and other visual elements to enhance social-first video content
  • Develop presentation decks, infographics, and other design materials supporting internal and external storytelling
  • Support senior designers and animators by creating motion graphics templates (MOGRTs), animations, and production-ready design assets
  • Manage multiple creative assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
  • Grow into ownership of graphic packages and animation projects as expertise and familiarity with Hearst brands develop

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ years of experience in motion graphics design, animation, or a related creative discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable video editing software
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging motion graphics with a strong eye for layout, typography, color, and visual storytelling
  • Excellent communication, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a deadline-driven creative environment
  • Passion for design, animation, and visual storytelling with a portfolio or demo reel showcasing relevant work
  • Bachelor's degree in motion design, animation, graphic design, or a related field preferred
  • Must submit a reel of visual work for consideration
  • Must be willing to work in-office as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in motion design, animation, or a related field
  • Proven experience in motion graphics design (1-2 years preferred)
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Basic video editing skills using software like Adobe Premiere Pro
  • A keen eye for design with proficiency in animation and motion graphics creation
