Key responsibilities & impact
  • Directly supervise and coordinate production and operating workers, including packers, machine operators, and blenders
  • Operate equipment and perform basic maintenance to improve equipment reliability and overall line performance
  • Troubleshoot problems and drive process improvements
  • Establish and achieve production goals
  • Foster relationships, promote health and safety, and develop a well-trained, motivated staff
  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations and food safety and quality guidelines
  • Initiate appropriate actions for food safety concerns, including escalation to Quality and Management
  • Apply SQF good manufacturing practices and HACCP guidelines
  • Coordinate employee activities, inventories, supplies, and operational activities across departments
  • Plan work schedules, assignments, and production sequences
  • Inspect materials, products, and equipment for defects or malfunctions
  • Monitor work, gauges, dials, and indicators for compliance with production standards
  • Conduct or assign employee training in equipment operations and work and safety procedures
  • Maintain attendance and hours-worked records
  • Counsel employees and address job-skill deficiencies
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions for direct reports
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies
  • Analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, records, and reports
  • Complete production, HACCP, GMP, SOP, food safety, quality, support, and process-control documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science required; Engineering or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing and supervision
  • Superior analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Demonstrates essential problem-solving methods and initiative
  • Ability to perform under pressure and solve problems independently
  • Ability to communicate well with all employees and customers
  • Ability to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time
  • Ability to work extended hours, daily overtime, and occasional weekends
  • Visual acuity to document company records
  • Continuous walking throughout the plant and distribution center
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
