About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set up and operate equipment that mixes or blends ingredients used in food-product manufacturing
- Provide direction, training and assistance to other operators
- Ensure safety, quality, production and cost KPIs are achieved
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the assigned machine
- Troubleshoot and improve machine operation throughout the day to meet efficiency targets
- Promote safety and comply with food manufacturing and safety regulations
- Follow Safe Quality Foods (SQF) good manufacturing practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points guidelines
- Record production and test data for each food-product batch, including ingredients, temperature, test results and cycle time
- Follow recipes to produce products with specified flavor, texture, clarity, bouquet and color
- Set up, operate and tend cooking, mixing, blending and processing equipment according to formulas or recipes
- Mix or blend ingredients using paddle or ribbon blenders or heated mixing vats
- Clean and sterilize blenders and factory processing areas
- Document batch data accurately and legibly
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; assist with adjustments and changeovers
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance according to manufacturing schedules and requirements
- Develop and apply problem-solving methods to improve equipment and optimize production
- Maintain accurate permanent records for the company and its customers
- Start up, shut down and complete product changeovers following SOPs
- Repair or replace defective parts
- Apply Environmental, Health and Safety standards in the department
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- 1 year of mechanical experience in a manufacturing or maintenance environment
- Good communication skills with operators, other mechanics and resources
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions/recommendations based on analysis
- Ability and willingness to operate and support a positive culture and follow established values
- Ability to integrate into all parts of the operation to support the facility in achieving goals and objectives
- Proactive approach and responsibility for equipment, line, coworkers and continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a team environment with honest communication, positive attitude, engagement and personal accountability
- Ability to work with computers, navigate systems, record information and find information to perform the job
- Very high sense of urgency
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English
- Good job performance and attendance records
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to physically perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
- Ability to work extended hours, including daily overtime and occasional weekends
- Visual acuity to document company records
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
