About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the Solar + BESS package end to end, from supplier selection through system energization
- Translate electrical and controls requirements into solar, BESS and O&M scopes, specifications and datasheets
- Lead design reviews with integrators, EPCs and the owner's engineer
- Integrate solar and BESS with on-site generation, data center loads and microgrid operating modes
- Support HAZOP/HAZID, FMEA, NFPA 855 analysis, UL 9540A review and AHJ/fire marshal engagement
- Collaborate with Supply Chain on supplier outreach, RFIs, RFPs, bidder Q&A and technical negotiations
- Prepare technical bid evaluations, leveled bid tabs and award recommendations
- Oversee vendor and contractor engineering, inspections, FAT/SAT, delivery, installation and energization
- Lead commissioning, capacity and performance testing, and punch-list closeout
- Deliver turnover packages and operations readiness with the O&M provider
- Maintain the solar and BESS schedule, track long-lead equipment and flag risks
- Validate vendor pricing against benchmarks and the financial model; manage change orders
- Develop engineering procedures, design guides and lessons learned for future deployments
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least two utility-scale solar or BESS projects delivered through construction and commissioning
- Project engineering experience
- Experience translating electrical and controls requirements into solar, BESS and O&M scopes of work, specifications and datasheets
- Experience leading design reviews covering layouts, MV collection, protection, SCADA/EMS integration and fire safety
- Experience integrating solar and BESS with on-site generation, microgrid operating modes and data center loads
- Experience supporting HAZOP/HAZID, FMEA, NFPA 855 hazard mitigation analysis, UL 9540A review and AHJ/fire marshal engagement
- Experience with supplier outreach, RFIs, RFPs, bidder Q&A and technical clarifications
- Experience preparing technical bid evaluations and leveled bid tabs
- Experience negotiating technical terms, warranties, performance guarantees, delivery and transportation schedules
- Experience collecting domestic content and supply chain documentation for tax credit eligibility
- Experience overseeing contractor/vendor engineering progress, inspections, FAT/SAT, delivery, installation and energization
- Experience leading commissioning, capacity and performance testing, and punch-list closeout
- Experience delivering turnover packages and operations readiness with an O&M provider
- Experience maintaining solar and BESS schedules, tracking long-lead equipment and managing change orders
- Experience developing engineering procedures, design guides and lessons learned
- US work authorization
