About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design basic to advanced building systems in coordination with project teams and other disciplines
  • Prepare system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, reports, plans, designs, and other design documents
  • Perform engineering calculations with a high degree of independence
  • Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications
  • Research system and equipment feasibility and evaluate products for application
  • Provide technical guidance, serve as a team leader, and mentor less experienced designers
  • Support business development and pursuit activities through strategic partner and customer relationships
  • Communicate with clients, architects, owners, and contractors regarding requirements, scope, questions, conflicts, and project coordination
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress
  • Research new products, industry trends, codes, and standards
  • Share technical and process improvement ideas with peers and leaders
  • Apply Henderson's design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures
  • Perform limited project management and project coordination responsibilities
  • Coordinate emails, scope, schedules, design teams, client meetings, project quality, client responses, and project delivery
  • May serve as Engineer of Record with responsibility and accountability for signing and sealing projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or 8 years of experience with high school diploma or equivalent
  • PE license required; may be counted toward 1 year of relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu
  • High technical aptitude and ability to learn and utilize various systems and processes
  • Ability to train others on systems and processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments, priorities and organizational needs
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and discipline-specific engineering design software
  • Self-starter, proactive, and willing to help others
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies described in the job description
