About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct and delegated patient care for facility clients
- Maintain knowledge of normal and abnormal parameters identifying clients at risk
- Respond to telephone calls and triage appropriately
- Provide patient reassurance, teaching, and direction
- Ensure efficient healthcare service delivery throughout patient visits
- Complete, update, and maintain accurate medical records
- Initiate patient contact and prepare patients for examinations
- Obtain vital signs, weight, age, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory history, and chief complaint
- Observe abnormal signs and symptoms, communicate patient conditions to physicians, and document findings
- Ensure patient understanding of physician instructions upon discharge
- Document medical record entries and charge information in the electronic medical record for billing
- Assist physicians with testing and treatment procedures under supervision
- Apply splints and dressings
- Follow through on physician orders
- Manage sample medications and sample medication logs
- Arrange and administer necessary patient testing or admission
- Obtain referrals, retrieve test results, and notify patients
- Assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals
- Obtain appropriate consents before invasive procedures or immunizations
- Distribute patient education materials and assist with patient instruction
- Perform laboratory tests and treatments as prescribed
- Maintain laboratory logs
- Stock, organize, and maintain patient care areas, equipment, supplies, and educational materials
- Keep exam rooms clean, organized, and compliant with cleaning protocols
- Ensure instruments are sterile and equipment is in working order
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or accredited Nursing Program, or be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
- Associates hired prior to 2018 are grandfathered from the educational and/or certification requirements
- Ability to work 40 scheduled hours per week on 1st shift
