About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in the delivery of health care and patient care management in a clinical capacity
  • Provide patient care for facility clients and identify abnormal parameters indicating clients at risk
  • Respond to telephone calls and triage appropriately
  • Provide patient reassurance, teaching, and direction
  • Ensure efficient healthcare service delivery throughout patient visits
  • Complete, update, and maintain accurate medical records
  • Initiate patient contact and prepare patients for examinations
  • Obtain vital signs, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, medical history, and chief complaint
  • Observe abnormal signs and symptoms, communicate conditions to physicians, and document findings
  • Ensure patient understanding of physician instructions at discharge
  • Document medical record entries and charge information in the electronic medical record for billing
  • Assist physicians with testing, treatment procedures, splints, dressings, sample medications, minor surgeries, and physicals
  • Perform physician-ordered laboratory tests and treatments
  • Arrange and administer necessary patient testing or admissions, obtain referrals, retrieve test results, and notify patients
  • Distribute patient education materials and assist with treatment and medication-use instruction
  • Maintain laboratory logs
  • Stock, organize, clean, and maintain patient care areas, exam rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from accredited high school
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program or accredited Nursing Program
  • Ability to provide patient care according to standards and guidelines
  • Ability to triage telephone calls appropriately
  • Ability to obtain vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
  • Ability to assist physicians with testing, treatments, splints, dressings, minor surgeries, and physicals
  • Ability to perform prescribed laboratory tests and treatments
  • Ability to maintain accurate electronic medical records and billing charge information
  • Ability to obtain appropriate consents before invasive procedures or immunizations
