About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide evidence-based, patient- and family-centered oncology nursing care across the oncology continuum
  • Perform oncology-specific physical, mental, and psychosocial assessments
  • Interpret patient lab and imaging results
  • Provide symptom management and patient education
  • Support management of drug interactions or reactions
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of cancer, disease sites, cancer care, treatment plans, and treatment modalities
  • Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Monitor patient health status and assess for changes
  • Educate patients on oncology care options, including port placement, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, PET scans, genetic testing, genomic testing, and NCCN guidelines
  • Maintain professional oncology certification and complete annual oncology-specific continuing education
  • Review current literature, attend product and practice education, and apply learning to promote optimal patient outcomes
  • Present cases at HRH Tumor Board
  • Manage time, flex scheduling for patient needs, maintain documentation, and complete assignments and teaching responsibilities on schedule

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN), required
  • 3-5 years' experience
  • Current licensure by the Indiana State Board of Nurses’ Registration and Nursing Education as an active Registered Nurse
  • Oncology Certification through Oncology Nursing Society required within one (1) year
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40
  • Work shift: 8:00am–4:30pm (United States of America)
