About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide patient-focused evaluation and communication under the supervision and collaboration of a Physician
- Conduct detailed patient and family assessments, including health histories and physical examinations
- Order and interpret laboratory, radiographic, bedside, and other clinical data
- Establish medical diagnoses and order and evaluate diagnostic studies
- Perform and monitor therapeutic procedures
- Document assessments, plans, examinations, and progress in medical records
- Help direct individualized patient care with Physicians, nursing, and other healthcare disciplines
- Prescribe and regulate medications under written physician practice agreements and prescriptive authority requirements
- Perform and document History and Physical examinations
- Prepare discharge paperwork and summaries
- Write admitting, daily, and discharge orders where applicable
- Collaborate with Physicians and healthcare teams to deliver efficient care
- Communicate with patients, families, referring physicians, and support staff
- Review evaluations and planned care with Physicians
- Participate in quality, safety, and utilization studies
- Alert Physicians to acute declines, critical lab values, and radiographic findings
- Prepare and submit billing materials
- Share in on-call rotation with physician backup where applicable
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
- Must maintain required continuing medical education
- Certification from the National Commission of Physician Assistants
- Licensed to practice in Indiana
- Previous work experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is preferred
- Experience in urgent care, emergency care, or primary care preferred
- Must comply with applicable Indiana Code requirements regulating Physician Assistant practice
- Must comply with medical staff rules, regulations, and health information management policies
