About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support worldwide operating units with complex export control and sanctions matters
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant trade and export control laws and policies
- Make decisions or provide approval recommendations for critical business transactions, technology transfers, conflicts of laws, and re-export matters
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business and compliance processes
- Support responses to government inquiries, internal investigations, and escalated cases involving elevated compliance risks
- Take a leading role in developing the Global Trade Compliance Framework
- Establish subject-matter guidelines for worldwide entities
- Identify risks and develop mitigation measures in collaboration with other departments
- Foster collaboration across the Group’s global Trade Compliance community
- Support the global training program for relevant employees
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in law, business administration, finance, or a comparable qualification
- In-depth expertise in U.S. Export Controls and Sanctions (EAR, OFAC, re-export rules, de minimis, FDPR)
- Solid knowledge of other relevant jurisdictions (EU, Germany, UK, China, etc.)
- Several years of practical experience applying export control and sanctions regulations in an international industrial or technology group
- Ability to assess complex and strategic subject-matter issues from a legally sound perspective and develop pragmatic solutions
- Proficiency in the underlying SAP processes and relevant transactions
- Excellent communication and advisory skills in German and English
- Open, service-oriented, and team-oriented approach to work
- Experience delivering training and presentations, including to C-level audiences
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience working with government authorities, audits, investigations, and critical compliance cases
