About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, implement, support, and optimize architecture strategies to meet business capabilities and needs
  • Ensure architecture completeness and integrity by addressing stakeholder concerns, connecting viewpoints, reconciling conflicts, and evaluating trade-offs
  • Leverage business and technology knowledge to enable or alter business processes, practices, organizations, and systems
  • Provide strategic consultation on business processes, functions, organizational structures, and enabling technologies
  • Facilitate enterprise business solutions combining process knowledge, technology options, and process facilitation techniques
  • Participate in enterprise strategy development, environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases, and business innovation portfolio development
  • Specify and design large or complex systems, solutions, networks, infrastructure elements, or processes
  • Select design standards, methods, and tools; review system designs and establish architecture component-selection policies
  • Evaluate major design options and balance functional, service-quality, and systems-management requirements
  • Produce component requirements and specifications and translate them into implementation solutions and detailed designs
  • Advise on technical aspects of system development, integration, change requests, deviations, and processes
  • Establish and communicate functional and non-functional requirements and identify operating environments
  • Lead significant improvement programs and develop or modify approaches to achieve measurable business benefits
  • Resolve architecture and business problems and communicate with all organizational levels
  • Manage expectations of customers, partners, and management
  • Participate in customer, design, and technical walkthroughs, problem resolution, and decision-making
  • Interact with departments across the organization and interpret complex requirements for peers and staff
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, presentations, and ad-hoc training to peers, developers, management, and business users
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be a US citizen due to contractual/access requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or closely related field
  • 3 years of experience in an IT discipline
  • Strong knowledge in applicable architecture, information, communication technology, or business areas
  • Experience with relevant technologies as needed, including IMS, DB2, Oracle, Teradata, data warehousing, COBOL, Visual Basic, C/C++, SAS, Java/JavaScript frameworks, PEGA, CSS3, Mobile, JSON, Cognos, Hadoop, SQL, J2EE, HTML5/XML
  • Knowledge of project management methods and tools, including Waterfall and Agile
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Industry certifications preferred
  • Health insurance industry business knowledge preferred
  • No additional language required beyond English
  • Ability to travel 0%–25%
