About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist providers and coordinate examination, treatment, and health care planning for patients
  • Coordinate patient care under the supervision of the health care provider
  • Prepare and room patients in the clinical practice setting
  • Obtain and document vital signs, patient information, medical history, tobacco screening, and medication screening
  • Complete annual wellness visit screenings and update medication and social history in the EHR
  • Pend orders for screenings, prescriptions, refills, and other orders under approved protocols
  • Perform back-office testing according to approved protocols and policies
  • Assist providers with examinations and procedures
  • Provide follow-up with patients and notify them of test results under provider direction
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain medical supply inventory
  • Clean and sterilize instruments
  • Perform lab controls and equipment checks
  • Administer and document medications safely and accurately
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records
  • Perform clerical office functions and other assigned duties
  • May float or travel between physician office locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant Program
  • Employees who graduated from a medical assistant program within five years or have proof of one year of work experience as a medical assistant in the last three years must complete certification training and/or attempt testing within 30 days of hire and obtain certification within 120 days of hire
  • Accepted Medical Assistant Certification: NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or AMCA
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Must follow established protocols, policies, procedures, standardized workflows, HIPAA requirements, data security guidelines, and the company’s Code of Business Conduct
  • May require floating/travel between physician office locations
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree
