About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform primary data abstraction duties for clinical measures and registries while ensuring high levels of abstraction accuracy and alignment with organizational quality standards (65%)
  • Screen disease indices, pathology reports, radiology reports, and other clinical documents to identify reportable cancer cases (15%)
  • Maintain the cancer registry database, including loading import files and generating and working data status reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and timeframes
  • Assist in reporting to state registries as needed
  • Participate in annual educational opportunities to stay informed of ongoing changes and updates (10%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree in health care related field OR relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of Associate's degree
  • 1 year of knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and/or medical terminology
  • 1 year of experience understanding and interpreting medical and treatment information
  • Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS)
  • Preferred: Epic experience
  • Preferred: Elekta Metriq software experience
  • Preferred: Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator (RHIT/RHIA) or exam eligible
  • Ability to understand and interpret medical and treatment information
  • Compliance with HIPAA, data security guidelines, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and training requirements
