About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor FDA approvals, drug manufacturer pipelines, and drug utilization reports
- Develop and execute drug formularies and pharmacy utilization management policies
- Write drug monographs for Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee review
- Develop and implement prior authorization, dose and duration edits, quantity limits, step therapy, generic sampling, and pharmacy policy programs
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and other mandates
- Develop physician, pharmacy, client, and member educational initiatives
- Participate in cross-functional committees and collaborate with internal analytics teams, pharmacy vendors, matrix partners, and stakeholders
- Interact with pharmaceutical manufacturers, pharmacy benefit managers, and strategic partners
- Evaluate, implement, and monitor pharmacy benefit-focused legislation
- Develop, execute, and monitor pharmacy-specific strategic initiatives
- Present recommendations to leadership
- Conduct peer review of medication reviews, utilization management policies, and strategy deliverables
- Identify and assist with department process improvements
- Manage individual projects and provide guidance to junior team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years of related, progressive experience in the pharmacy area of specialization OR completion of an accredited PGY-1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program plus 2 additional years of related, progressive experience
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Registered Pharmacist (Non-State Specific)
- Understanding of managed care pharmacy principles and practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer-based data processing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and database applications
- Ability to identify and prioritize essential elements of problems
- Ability to identify root issues and formulate potential solutions independently or in a team
- Compliance with HIPAA, data security guidelines, Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and training requirements
