About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide continuous observation and surveillance of multiple patients across the AHN network via a central command center
  • Maintain visual observation using patient monitoring software
  • Recognize potentially harmful behaviors and verbally redirect patients through digital audio devices
  • Communicate patient needs to nursing staff and provide shift-to-shift handoffs
  • Report threats, patient safety issues, and potential room hazards to floor and hospital staff
  • Help assure a safe patient environment
  • Explain information to patients as necessary while maintaining dignity and privacy; do not counsel or provide opinions
  • Follow safe work practices and participate in organizational and department safety programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school / GED
  • 1 year of previous patient care experience
  • Capable of continuous monitoring of multiple patients at one time
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Decisive judgement
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and patient confidentiality
  • Ability to use de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to communicate verbally, calmly and courteously in stressful situations
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Compliance with HIPAA, privacy, information security, company policy, applicable laws, and training requirements
