About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan and coordinate preparation of project documentation, including engineering drawings, production specifications, schedules, and contract modifications
  • Review contracts to determine documentation required for each project phase
  • Apply knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes to meet customer contract requirements
  • Analyze proposed product design changes and determine effects on the overall product and system
  • Coordinate modification records for management control
  • Establish change orders and prepare change authorization and documentation by the company and subcontractors
  • Review and analyze released engineering change data
  • Coordinate changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities
  • Perform weight analysis on new construction aircraft carriers
  • Develop weight and center-of-gravity estimates from technical descriptions
  • Extract mass property details from product models or calculate them from drawings
  • Determine appropriate margins to add to weights
  • Develop mass property data packages for weight databases
  • Perform calculations on structure, piping, electrical, outfitting, machinery, and HVAC systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Equivalent options include NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School graduate, associate's degree or other formal 2 year program with relevant experience, military paygrade E-5 or above military experience, or high school/GED with specified manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military, or other relevant experience
  • Competent knowledge of basic mathematics and geometry, including area, volume, moments and ability to read scales
  • Ability to occasionally access work sites aboard ships with limited kneeling, stooping, standing, and use of vertical ladders
  • Experience in product modeling such as Siemens NX or similar (nice to have)
  • Ability to read technical drawings (nice to have)
  • Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets (nice to have)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (nice to have)
  • U.S. Citizenship required
