About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Estimate labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on RFP data
  • Analyze specifications, sketches, blueprints, bills of material, and sample layouts
  • Calculate production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data
  • Collect cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Compute estimates for raw materials, subcontracted work, and labor
  • Prepare and maintain historical cost data
  • Create cost models for cost estimating elements
  • Prepare and maintain cost reports
  • Present findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 8 years of relevant professional experience
  • Equivalent pathways include NNS Apprentice School graduation, Navy Nuclear Power School graduation, an associate's degree or other formal 2-year program plus relevant experience, military paygrade E-5 or above military experience, or high school/GED plus specified relevant experience
  • Ability to navigate vertical ladders, confined spaces, and other similar shipboard conditions as necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, primarily Excel
  • Ability to translate cost proposal inputs in various formats for customer submittal
  • Experience preparing and defending cost proposals for base contracts and change orders
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Collaboration and stakeholder management abilities
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to travel 10%-25% of the time
  • Clearance is not required to start
