About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
  • Use computer-aided design equipment and graphic tools such as CAD, CAM or CATIA
  • Gather information, conduct studies, perform calculations, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals
  • Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups
  • Support electrical design and development of drawings for ship modifications and overhauls
  • Follow applicable drawing procedures and standards
  • Incorporate government- and vendor-furnished information and technical data into functional electrical design drawings
  • Travel to Naval Bases for pier-side shipchecking and surveys

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of experience, or an Associate's Degree or other 2 year technical degree in a related discipline and 3 years of experience
  • US Citizenship required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with electrical design and development of drawings associated with ship modification and overhauls
  • Ability to follow applicable drawings procedures and standards
  • Ability to locate, interpret and apply government- and vendor-furnished information and technical data into functional electrical design drawings
  • Ability to travel to numerous Naval Bases for pier side shipchecking and surveys
  • Familiarity with US Navy Combat Systems and Exterior Communication Systems preferred
  • Understanding of ship design and blueprint reading
  • Ability to travel 25%-50% of the time
