About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems
- Perform assembly, analysis, and documentation of results
- Construct developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components
- Conduct quality testing
- Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
- Perform acoustic analyses on new ship designs or concepts
- Present work to peers and customers
- Collaborate with team members to achieve goals and meet timelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Experience and/or course work in acoustics or vibrations preferred
- Working level knowledge of acoustic/vibration transfer path analysis, acoustic/vibration finite element analysis, digital signal processing, technical writing, acoustic/vibration testing, and ship or systems engineering is a plus
- Experience with MATLAB, SIMULINK, PYTHON, ABAQUS, HYPERMESH, or SEAM is a plus
- Working level knowledge of the physics of acoustics
- Working level knowledge of the physics of vibrations
- Understanding of basic mechanical machinery design principles
- Understanding of basic fluid system design principles
- Understanding of lumped parameter models
- Detail-oriented and able to work in a team environment
- Quick learner able to apply new skills to acoustic analysis
- Good communication and writing skills
- Self-starter able to work independently and perform engineering acoustic analyses with documented rigor
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
