About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Apply electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to components and systems
  • Assemble, analyze, and document results
  • Construct developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components
  • Perform quality testing
  • Support and participate in the design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
  • Design, repair, and modernize propulsion machinery and piping systems on US Navy aircraft carriers
  • Support mid-life nuclear refueling and complex overhaul and other ship maintenance periods
  • Troubleshoot problems, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Collaborate with Trades and Construction Management personnel
  • Work in offices, supplier facilities, manufacturing facilities, ships, piers, dry docks, yards, and naval bases

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; OR Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; OR Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • US Citizenship required
  • Familiarity with US Navy aircraft carrier modernization and maintenance process, particularly planning and executing refueling complex overhauls of aircraft carrier propulsion plants preferred
  • Technical background in turbine generators preferred
  • Experience in fluid mechanics, strength of materials, fasteners, shock analysis, GD&T, and/or repair of complex machinery preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • SAP or similar ERP experience preferred
  • Good communication skills, organization, and project management skills
  • Comfort visiting production environments, climbing vertical and inclined ladders, and accessing confined spaces
  • Occasional travel required
