About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems
  • Assemble, analyze, and document results
  • Construct developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components
  • Conduct quality testing
  • Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
  • Develop and maintain Propulsion Plant Manual content describing operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fluid and mechanical systems within the A1B propulsion plant
  • Research technical information and apply critical thinking to produce clear, concise manuals
  • Collaborate with system and component engineers, NNL, NAVSEA, and fellow authors
  • Write, edit, and update PPM sections for steam plant fluid and mechanical systems
  • Maintain proficiency in control networks for system components such as valves and pumps
  • Prepare formal letters to the government and prime contractor for approval of PPM content revisions
  • Verify technical accuracy with engineers and subject matter experts
  • Participate in peer review cycles and provide and receive feedback for internal and external customers
  • Maintain authoring guidelines and documentation standards
  • Stay current on plant operations and maintenance practices to improve manual relevance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Final clearance required to start
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
