About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support development of new aircraft carriers
- Support modernization of the existing aircraft carrier fleet
- Support design of a new battleship class
- Support standard valve designs used throughout the Navy
- Design electromechanical components
- Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems
- Perform assembly, analysis, and documentation of results
- Construct developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components
- Conduct quality testing
- Support and participate in design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Experience with end-user support and troubleshooting preferred
- Experience working with suppliers on product development and improvement preferred
- Conceptual design knowledge of propulsion plant components preferred
- Basic engineering project management skills preferred
- Experience leading a technical project team of junior engineers preferred
- Ability to apply engineering and critical thinking principles to develop technical solutions for complex problems preferred
- Desire to teach and mentor junior engineers preferred
- Engineers from all ABET-accredited disciplines encouraged to apply
