About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support BAE Systems’ Platform Nuclear Engineering Department in the UK
  • Assist in integrating the department into the wider Waterfront Engineering organization
  • Consult the Cleanliness Integrated working team
  • Develop technical work and training documents
  • Foster an engineering-driven build culture
  • Lead resolution of in-process build issues
  • Support the US-UK interface for primary systems
  • Provide working-level guidance on primary system and component build and test issues
  • Transfer US reactor plant submarine construction knowledge and implementation methods to peers and supervisors
  • Provide deck plate mentoring and support to resolve construction issues
  • Act as a primary-to-secondary liaison on design-build issues
  • Identify analyses necessary for risk reduction
  • Assist with reviewing system test data and rectifying emergent issues during testing
  • Collaborate with and receive support from the US new construction shipyards (EB and NNS) to transfer learning and best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for this Position
  • Final clearance required to start
  • The position will require travel and take residence in the United Kingdom
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; or Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required
  • Familiarity with VCS Program Build and Test preferred
  • 10 years+ of applicable experience preferred
  • Fluid systems design or operations experience preferred
  • Ability to coach and mentor engineering peers preferred
  • Strong communication skills
