About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to establish quality standards
  • Investigate problems and develop dispositions and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies
  • Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation/control systems and procedural protocols
  • Audit quality systems to identify and correct deficiencies
  • Ensure corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and documentation complies with requirements
  • Perform deckplate surveillance to ensure processes conform to established standards
  • Support structural fabrication, fitting, welding, and non-destructive testing processes
  • Apply product or process quality expertise in design, manufacturing, product evaluation and reliability, and/or research and development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • Experience with Technical Publications and Navy Welding Specifications, including TP 1688, TP 278, TP 248, MIL-STD-1689, and CVN PPD
  • Experience or proficiency in structural fabrication, fitting, welding, and non-destructive testing processes
  • Extensive experience with problem solving, root cause analysis, and process management is nice to have
  • Process improvement experience is nice to have
  • Knowledge of Quality processes and ISO 9000 application to Military, DOE, or shipbuilding is nice to have
  • Heavy steel manufacturing experience is nice to have
  • Knowledge of Agile, Knowledge Management, and/or Systems Methodologies is nice to have
  • LEAN, Six Sigma, CI methodologies, and/or Certified Green or Black Belt is nice to have
