About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design major components or major portions of functional systems to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
  • Develop basic data and preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals
  • Investigate ease of manufacture, materials and equipment availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specifications, and cost
  • Coordinate with organizations affected by design development
  • Create layouts of complex assemblies and details of parts, devices, mechanisms, and structures
  • Check layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, standards, procedures, specifications, and calculation and dimensioning accuracy
  • Identify design errors, omissions, and deficiencies
  • Recommend design layout revisions and improvements to responsible engineers or designers
  • Develop feasibility analyses, risk assessments, high-level impact analyses, and specification markups to support customer ECP scoping packages

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma and 6 years of experience, or Associates degree and 4 years of experience, or Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience, or Masters degree or above and 0 years of experience
  • Significant experience within Marine Detail Design, Electrical Detail Design, or Outfitting Detail Design
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-starter who requires very little supervision
  • A broad background, multiple design disciplines and/or different facets of Engineering in design is preferred
  • Full-time, first shift position
  • No travel required
