About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design major components or major portions of functional systems to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
Develop basic data and preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals
Investigate design factors including manufacturability, materials and equipment availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specifications, and cost
Coordinate with organizations affected by design development
Create layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures
Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, standards, procedures, specifications, and calculation/dimensioning accuracy
Identify design errors, omissions, and deficiencies and recommend revisions or improvements
Lead scoping efforts for Detail Design
Receive and investigate ECP packages, kick off ECPs, define expected changes, and oversee change scoping
Review and QA final packages and answer internal/external negotiation questions

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School diploma and 9 years of experience, or Associates degree and 7 years of experience, or Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience, or Masters degree and 3 years of experience, or PHD and 0 years of experience
U.S. Citizenship required
Significant experience in Marine Detail Design, Electrical Detail Design, or Outfitting Detail Design
Good communicator
Driven and self-starter
Requires very little supervision
A broad background, multiple design disciplines and/or different facets of Engineering in design preferred
