About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design major components or major portions of functional systems to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
Develop basic data and preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals
Investigate design factors including manufacturability, material and equipment availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specifications, and cost
Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development
Create layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures
Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, standards, procedures, specifications, calculations, and dimensioning accuracy
Identify design errors, omissions, and deficiencies and recommend design revisions or improvements
Develop feasibility analyses, risk assessments, high-level impact analyses, and specification markups from customer conceptual ideas for ECP scoping packages

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School diploma and 13 years of experience, or Associate degree and 11 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 7 years of experience, or PhD and 4 years of experience
U.S. Citizenship required
Significant experience in Marine Detail Design, Electrical Detail Design, or Outfitting Detail Design
Broad background, multiple design disciplines and/or different facets of Engineering in design preferred
Good communicator, driven, self-starter, and able to require very little supervision
