About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
- Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, including laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
- Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings, flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics
- Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
- Conduct preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided
- Make quantitative judgments concerning technical data
- Use a personal computer for analyses and development of documentation and reports
- Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
- Plan, prepare, brief, and conduct testing of propulsion plant equipment for CVN Overhaul
- Review data and resolve test problems
- Develop, review, revise, and execute Navy Work Authorization Forms (WAFs), safety tagout documents, and specifications
- Approve issuance of WAFs, work permits, and safety tag-outs for assigned systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
- One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree: NNS Apprentice School graduate; Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate; High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience; High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Experience using electrical schematics for system analysis and determining work isolation (nice to have)
- Experience with propulsion plant systems on CVN Aircraft Carriers (nice to have)
