About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform pipe welding procedures on stainless steel and copper-nickel pipe
- Seal together piping networks supplying ships with chemicals, steam, ventilation, and heating and cooling systems
- Work in shipyard production areas across different heights, confined spaces, weather conditions, and multiple shifts
- Follow safety procedures meeting or exceeding industry standards
- Use welding processes including GTAW/TIG, SMAW/stick welding, and FCAW/wire welding
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have graduated from a pipe welder program at a vo-tech school or other training school
- Program must include training in TIG root and stick fill and cap on steel piping in the 6GR position
- Mississippi Tech Master Certification (nice to have)
- Ability to work in an around-the-clock shipyard manufacturing setting
- Ability to work at different heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work day or night shifts as required
- Knowledge or willingness to learn welding processes including GTAW/TIG, SMAW/stick welding, and FCAW/wire welding
