Key responsibilities & impact
  • Read, interpret, plan, and execute from drawings and procedures
  • Measure, cut, grind, fit, align, and tack weld parts
  • Build in-place interior structures, hatches, doors, and bulkheads
  • Complete steel work in ships
  • Work in shops, platens, dry-docks, and onboard ships
  • Support new construction, ship repair, and ship overhauls
  • Work at heights and in cramped confined spaces under varied conditions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Willing to undergo a background investigation and drug screen
  • Able to pass physical agility test
  • Able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb daily
  • Able to lift at least 40 pounds
  • Able to perform overhead work
  • Able to work at extreme heights
  • Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • Able to work in small, tight, confined spaces
  • Able to take measurements or be willing to learn
  • Willing to work in radiation areas with appropriate training and equipment
  • Able to be clean shaven to wear a respirator
  • Able to work overtime as needed
  • Willing to work any shift
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of Welding Certification from an AWS Accredited School and/or Program
