About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design major components or major portions of functional systems to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
- Develop basic data, preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals
- Investigate design factors including manufacturability, material and equipment availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specifications, and cost
- Coordinate with organizations affected by design development
- Create layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures
- Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, standards, procedures, specifications, calculations, and dimensioning accuracy
- Identify design errors, omissions, and deficiencies and recommend revisions or improvements
- Provide direct managerial leadership for Electrical Detail Design personnel
- Ensure high-quality engineering products comply with Command Media processes
- Oversee team performance, development, and supervision
- Manage scheduling, budgeting, and execution of 3D/2D Arrangements, Armament, Combat Systems, Cableway, and Cable Routing products
- Integrate Detail Design outputs across disciplines and drive efficiency and best practices
- Collaborate with disciplines and departments to align design efforts and support interdepartmental coordination
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent
- Alternatively, high school diploma and 10 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design or equivalent
- Alternatively, Associate's Degree and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design or equivalent
- Strong team-building skills and ability to lead a diverse team
- Strong communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with Electrical Detail Design tools and processes is preferred
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to travel 10%-25% of the time
