About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Fit pipe made of steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel and stainless materials
  • Install appropriate valves and fittings
  • Utilize various tools and equipment according to drawings, arrangements and blueprints
  • Work in shipyard production areas at different heights, in confined spaces and in varying weather conditions
  • Work day or night shifts as required by ship construction schedules
  • Follow safety procedures meeting or exceeding industry standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6 months of pipefitting experience, or NCCER Certification
  • Completed high school or equivalent pipefitting technical program with NCCER certification
  • 1.5 or more years of marine, shipbuilding and construction experience
  • Experience in layout, fit-up, fabrication and installation of pipe, flanges and valves
  • Ability to read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprints using metric and standard measurements
  • Experience setting and erecting units with proficiency in the use of Datum Lines
  • Familiarity with fit-up and alignment tolerances
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills
  • Ability to work at different heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in different weather conditions
  • Ability to work multiple shifts, including day or night shifts
  • Ability to work safely in accordance with shipyard safety procedures
