About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Source, purchase, plan, and schedule the movement of materials and services through production and inventory processes
- Identify raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules
- Purchase, plan, and coordinate material movement throughout manufacturing and inventory sequences
- Analyze data and determine factors affecting prices
- Determine the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and required schedules
- Review proposals and negotiate prices
- Select or recommend suppliers
- Analyze trends and follow up on orders placed
- Approve payment and maintain records of material movement throughout manufacturing and inventory cycles
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and material movement
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma and 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience, or Master's degree or above and 1 year of experience
- Ability to source, purchase, plan, and schedule raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related materials
- Ability to identify material requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules
- Ability to analyze data and determine pricing factors
- Ability to evaluate quality, reliability, and schedule requirements
- Ability to review proposals, negotiate prices, select or recommend suppliers, analyze trends, follow up on orders, approve payment, and maintain records
- Ability to coordinate with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel
